The whole story of the Saveurs D'Ouranie began on the evening of the 50th birthday of Joël Larribe in 2005.
His brother in law Hervé Bassat created an aperitif based on fruit (bitter oranges, peaches, apples...) on this occasion.
A year later Joël Larribe decided to create a variety of low alcohol aperitifs based on fruit. With the laboratory equipment he installed in his cellar, he began to elaborate an aperitif based on bitter oranges and Vionier and Muscat vines.
Six months later he perfected a technique to capture the perfume of the fruit on a low alcohol base. The results were really surprising.
He was rapidly backed up by the CCI of Brive, who began an assistance for the valorisation of the research called PTR (Benefits for technicological networks) subventionned by Oséo and the Limousin regional Council.
Another not less important aid came from a rugby mate, Frederick Gervoson, PDG of Andros, a world leader in the fruit industry, who could guarantee the quality of the fruit used.
Saveurs D'Ouranie is an aperitif based on wine. The wines used for the fabrication have been carefully selected for their capacity to sustain perfectly the flavour of the fruit. They are from vines in the Roussillon and their dosing is specific for each aperitif.
The first vintage of 6500 bottles was produced in 2008 and the sixth recipe for the aperitifs Saveurs D'Ouranie has just been added : the Raspberry flavour.
The flavours « Litchi of Madagascar» and «Bitter Seville Orange» have just received respectively the silver and bronze medal in the General Agricultural Concours 2009.
